About
My general research focus is the development of corpus approaches to issues in descriptive, theoretical and applied linguistics, and expanding the role of corpus methodology in theoretically-oriented research. From a theoretical standpoint, I am interested in exploring the compatibility between construction grammar and lexical grammar. In particular, I am interested in modality and conditionals, as well as the use of corpus approaches to critical discourse studies, sociolinguistics, and language education (mainly, pedagogical lexicogrammar and the analysis of learner language).
I have published on the nature, techniques and applications of corpus linguistics, conditionals and modality, language teacher education and language teaching methodology – particularly on the role of language awareness. My h-index is 3 when measured by ISI Web of Knowledge (bit.ly/CG-ResID) and Scopus (bit.ly/CG-Scopus), and 10 when measured by Google Scholar Citations (bit.ly/CG-Scholar) and Publish or Perish.
I am currently working on the compilation of a corpus of spoken learner language elicited under exam conditions, and the analysis of selected lexicogrammatical and discourse features (conditionals, the present progressive and discourse markers).
