About
My research is in three main areas: cognitive-typological theory and methodology, language change, and dialect grammar (especially Lancashire dialect).
I don't see these areas as separate, but instead as connected, overlapping, and feeding into one another in all sorts of interesting ways -- ways that have often not been explored very much yet in the literature. For an idea of what I have in mind, have a look at the (2007) article I published (with Anna Siewierska) in English Language and Linguistics on the variation in first person possessives in Lancashire dialect, viewed from a construction grammar perspective.
